The notification feed

The bell in the header opens Notifications — the feed of changes in your private networks: devices, routes, access rules, keys, reverse-proxy. A number on the bell counts the unread events.

• The newest events are on top; the page shows the last 200. Each event links to its network.
• Opening the feed marks everything as read; the events that just arrived stay highlighted until you leave the page.
• An event is written in your interface language at the moment it happens; switching the language later doesn't rewrite old events.
• The public network and rooms don't write to the feed.
• Notes about payments come to the feed whatever a network's settings say: the paid period of a private network ends soon or has ended, the network is stopped, is about to be deleted, is deleted or works again — see When a network's paid period ends; and, for an account without paid services nobody has signed in to for long, the reminder to sign in — see Inactive free accounts.

Network events

Each network decides which of its changes reach you. Open the network and its Notifications tab: Network notifications has a checkbox per kind of event. All are on by default.

Press Save. Some events always reach you whatever the checkboxes say: changes of these settings, an export or a restore of the network (they also come by email), and turning online/offline tracking on or off.

Online/offline tracking

For devices that must not go quiet unnoticed — a subnet router, a home server, a pair of HA routers:

1. Open the device's page and, under Notifications, turn on the switch Alert me when it goes online/offline (HA).
2. The device gets the HA tag — next to its name and in the device table. The same switch turns the tracking off.

When the device goes offline or comes back and stays that way for 2 minutes, you get an event in the feed and an email. A short blink doesn't trigger anything. mesh-net checks the networks about every 60 seconds, so an alert comes 2–3 minutes after the change.

What comes by email

• Security notices, always: a private network created, imported or deleted from the dashboard; a device removed from a private network through the dashboard; a join key issued in a private network; the password changed or reset; two-factor authentication turned on or off. Each ends with “if this wasn't you” advice. Adding and deleting devices in the public network sends no email.
• Network events marked “also by email” above, and online/offline alerts of tracked devices.
• Domains: your own domain became active.
• Paid services: a payment is confirmed; a renewal reminder 7 days and 1 day before the end of a private network, of the reverse-proxy slots and of a pack; a network's paid period has ended (the email says until when it works and when it is stopped and deleted), the network is stopped, its deletion is near, it is deleted; slots or a pack have ended and what was removed — see Services and payments.
• Inactive free accounts: a reminder to sign in to keep the free services, with what would be released, and later the list of what was released — see Inactive free accounts.
• Support: replies to your tickets.

Emails are sent in the language of your account, chosen on the account page (see Interface language). To check that they reach you, use Send a test email.
